"Gods Organization" was one of those Cult-terms used by the wts. A control mechanism. Did Jesus have an organization? Being a Christian does not mean that one has to be a member of a certain church or "organization". Christianity is not a religion. Christianity is a one on one relationship with God.

A sad day for Cynthia. A sad day for us. Wonderful man, wonderful books.
What I admired most about him was how calm and forgiving he stayed throughout the entire WTS harassment. He will be missed.

Do you miss God?
by wobble inif you are one of the posters on here who has got to the point where you do not believe in god to any great extent, do you miss "him".
i find that i rarely used to ask god for anything, or load him up with my problems, everybody elses were far more urgent, but i did used to feel moved to praise him when i saw the beauties of creation, a sunset etc.. i now feel an urge to still do that, but do not believe anyone is listening, do you get moments like that ?.
love.

I do not miss the Watchtower god. Because that was not the God of the Bible. I found the real God. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a relogion. It's a one on one relationship with God. No church membership required.

How often do you go to the meetings at the KH this year?
by asilentone inthe only meeting that i went is the memorial this year.
.

I'm glad to say that I have not been to any meeting this year. Not even the memorial.
I would have been totally OK with that, because the WTS idea of 'memorial is incorrect anyway. But my wife faced a dillemma, she felt bad about missing the memorial, still thinking the once a year memorial is a Scriptural requirement, but absolutely hated our stuck up witnesses and elders. She did not want to see them. So I prepared a short memorial for ourselves, at home. Wine and bread included. It was the most meaningful memorial I ever attended! Hopefully my wife sees the WTS errors too by next year and I don't have to do this anymore. But it was fun.

Mary, I'm looking forward to your notes!! What a wonderful effort, and how great to share this with us. I found that doing research helped me tremendously to move on, and I found much comfort in the truth's I found. Can't wait to read your works!

Things That Irritated You When You Were A JW
by minimus inthere were some witnesses that loved taking notes for every meeting.
whatever you would say, the note takers were busy as a bee writing down every word.
especially if you went out of town to give a talk, certain ones (only sisters) would take their note taking very very seriously.. another thing that used to get to me was when you'd see the same people every assembly on the platform giving a talk or being in a part.

That retarded BS overseer who instisted on making us look up scriptures in the paragraph, that were word for word quoted in the paragraph!
First he read the scripture word for word from the paragraph, and asks us"uhh, so what does this scripture help us to appriciate..?"
THEN he made us look up the same text in the Bible, read the exact same words and asks the SAME dumb question again "uhh, so what does this scripture help us to appriciate..?"
Every week, every paragraph, the same thing!! It drove me nuts. And every week it took about 5 minutes for someone to comment. Usually the same person commented and said the same thing twice!

When Debating With Witnesses- Is Arguing Doctrine Beneficial ? Steve Hassan
by flipper inmy wife and i have been reading " releasing the bonds " by steve hassan and it makes some interesting points about assisting people to get out of any cult.
notice this excerpt from chapter 6 from the book.
hassan states, " it is also important to understand that in most bible -based cults, although the member is aggressively taught doctrine, it is not the doctrine that holds him in the group.

Quote - I told them in my letters they damned well better not shun me, that if they did, I publicly draw attention to their behavior... I let them know it's their actions that I wouldn't take any longer and it was them wrong not me! -end quote
Very good point Dawg. Never thought about that approach. They only reason why my wife stays a JW is because she is affraid her mother will never speak to her again. They are at fault, they are the ones choosing to shun, and they should be held accountable for that. It's like standing up to a bully.
I have no family where I live, so I don't care about the family shunning. But that may be a great idea for my wife.
I find this a very good thread.

Debating Doctrines, or showing them proof of WTS failure & misconduct will only result in the fact that they now see you as 'weak' and somebody to be ignored.
My family is still active, but the do not know I have not been to the meetings for over 3 years, so that gives me a good opportunity to speak to them, while they still think I'm one of them.
Last month my brother, his wife AND my mother (all witnesses) all had to deal with severe illness and hospital treatment. I encouraged them as much as I could, and mentioned to them how blessed they were that some people have chosen to follow a higher education, and become doctors, and are now able to perform life saving surgeries. They immidiately agreed! But if I had made the same point, while being an Apostate (in their eyes) nobody would have listened to me.
What I try to say is, I always seek zealously for the right opportunity, to say the right thing. Something that MAKES THEM THINK. The best thing is, that they constantly praise my spirituality!

Hey RUSH fan! (2112!) - Hang on in there buddy!! I have a scar to show that I was pretty close to similar thoughts at a time. 2112, I am soooooo glad, that I never went through with it. Life is worth living. Try to see the beauty in even the smallest things. Live one day at a time.
Refuse to allow the WTS to do this to you. Fight back! This is EXACTLY why shunning is EVIL and should be outlawed! This is NOT what Jesus had in mind! This is what mind controlling cults have in mind. I will pray for your well being 2112!
Your Son and your Dog! Think about them, go out with them. Have fun and stay close to them! And nevr underestimate the power of prayer.
